Plastics Design and Moulding Exhibition

We’re pleased to see the Uri Plus making an appearance in an advert for the upcoming annual Plastics Design and Moulding (PDM11) exhibition in London 18-19 May 2010. The two day conference programme is based around the core subject of design for plastics manufacture.

PDM11 is co-located with an event dedicated to Industrial Design – The Product Design + Innovation Conference featuring expert speakers, from brand owners and leading design consultancies, the two day event will explore opportunities for growth through themes such as sustainability and open innovation.

The value of design?

Persuading businesses to invest in product design isn’t always easy. The end product isn’t tangible at the outset of a project, and overall costs are hard to pin down. Some people assume a designer just makes the product pretty after the real development work has been done.

It is enlightening to look at the profitability of a well known business that has put design at the heart of all it does. Apple Computers recently reported profits of $6bn on revenues of $26.74bn for the three month period running up to Christmas 2010. Read the rest of this entry »
